The roster of classic games available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers has quietly expanded this week. Two beloved titles from the original Game Boy era, Balloon Kid and Yoshi, have been added to the service's Nintendo Classics library.
This addition brings the total number of Game Boy and Game Boy Color games available to subscribers in the West to forty-three. Yoshi, a puzzle game featuring Mario's dinosaur companion, launched alongside the Game Boy system itself in North America. Balloon Kid, a side-scrolling adventure and spiritual successor to the NES's Balloon Fight, tasks players with guiding a child through the skies using balloons.
Both titles are now playable at no extra cost for members of the Nintendo Switch Online service. The expansion continues Nintendo's steady, if sometimes unpredictable, drip-feed of retro content to its subscription platform, offering a new generation of players a chance to experience these portable classics. The library includes a range of titles from the 8-bit handheld, providing a substantial digital archive for gaming historians and nostalgic fans alike.
